Michael's e-ako Trophies

My
Reflection
I was

Christmas Cloud

I made this cloud on www.Tagul.com with my Google account using  Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks on my school MacBook Air.
Bells was HUGE!
I looked at surprise and said, "Surprise!"
Fireplaces are HOT! DO NOT TOUCH THE FIRES!

Read the description below:
Coal
Santa
Christ
Rudolph
Ho Ho Ho!
Good & Bad
Christ was born
Christmas carols
Christmas crackers
December 25th, AD0
The best day of the year
A boy was born, King of all the world
Jesus is now 2013 years old, on 25 December he will be 2014
Happy Christmas and New Year

Reflection:
I felt about  happy :) about my Tagul
I like Tagul about sizes:
1 2 3 4 & 5
My favourite parts were I used Bells font, set it to size 10 and coloured it in grey and I wrote shiny and rotated it 90 degrees clockwise, and I used Carols font and set it to a different font so that it would look pretty.
It was tricky because there were loads of words.

Polar Bears - Finding Information

My reflection
I enjoyed how I learned some facts about polar bears. The fifth fact shows king Ptolemy having one. This is interesting, but not as interesting as some other subjects.

Book Character Parade

Book Character Parade
27 November 2015

I dressed up as Robin Hood. I had a bow and arrow. I did not use them. Mrs Melville was dressed up as Granny from Little Red Riding Hood. Others dressed up. Quinn dressed up as the Frog Prince. Some children in my class dress up as fairy tale characters. I went to the parade outside. Quinn and I got an award for the best book characters in the class. The award was for the best book character. If you are not dressed up as a book character, you cannot get a prize. Last time, Gemma got a prize. I got a prize too. The prize that time was the same prize for the best book characters in school this year. It was an award. Mrs Howard got the award for the best book character as a teacher. I don't remember who she dressed as.

Reflection
The parade was exciting because I like my character. I felt happy when I received the award. Next year, I don't know if I want to do it again.

Bike Skills

Reflection
The good news was I could somewhat control the bike myself. But the bad news was I couldn't start very well myself. It was not much good.
I felt happy when riding.

Equivalent Fractions Puzzle

1Choose a piece
2Link another piece
3Watch out for grey spaces
4This will be the problem if you are not careful
5Keep on going until you've connected 24 pieces
6Place the last piece
7Take an image
8Upload on blog
I started with a piece; a piece in the middle. What would be easier is I should have started with an edge or corner.
At last I placed the 4B piece in the crack and Mrs Melville took an image of it. Finally I uploaded it without even getting nettled.

Swimming
Every Tuesday and Thursday, like I, the Dolphins swam.
Every Wednesday and Friday, the Shreks swam.

First, we get changed in the changing sheds, then we splash our feet and practice swimming. Finally, we get free time (3-5min, tyres(favourite), boogie boards, rings, balls) and get changed back into our uniforms. It feels a bit tepid in the water. I liked swimming, but Raj riles (annoys severely) me by cursing which was cruel.

Sometimes I go swimming with my parents to Lloyd Elsmore. But only twice I went to Waiwera and twice I went to Westwave.

Swimming!

SWIMMING

We were swimming. I enjoyed swimming but I did NOT enjoy if I put my head underwater.
I enjoyed my free time.

COLLAGE

My Reflection
I found everything easy at the point where nothing is hard. It was easy because there were no hard steps and I took myself each step after Charlotte showed me. I knew there were 3d collage, digital collage and classic collage. I am looking forward to finishing my collage, going next week, learning even more etc.

Term 4, Week 5 Bike Skillz

Yesterday our class went to the vast field (not quite plains or prairie, but verdant) to do bike skills. We do bike skills because to help save you. Because you require a helmet, it isn't a bad thing to do unless in hardcore.

I couldn't put on/remove my helmet. Mr. Wright maybe helped.  I rode my bike, but I needed someone to help with the pedals. Once I fell off. When I rode a circle in the field, the whole time Mr. Wright took care of me. Then we took off our helmets, but I couldn't.

I adored it.

Character Description Writing

McRindrox

He has a grimy young face.
His navy blue hair is brushed sideways.
His bowtie is scarlet red with a hidden pearl.
His jacket is red hot.
His eyelids are revolting green.
He has a purple eardrum that scares everybody.

He has an evil smile and evil teeth as sharp as spikes.
He sounds engagingly loud.
He moves only when the ground shakes near him.
He moves rapidly like a cheetah and quietly as a snowflake.
He is only vile to demons who make his temper so much worse every time and scares them.

My Reflection:
I found it fun to describe McRindrox because I like using impressive words.

Last Week Recount
Last week, on Friday, I tried to do yarn crafts, but it was too hard for me, so I had to go to the library. I found it hard to sew a pattern. I needed help, but it was still too hard. It may be Mrs. Douglas who took me to the library. I was using one of the computers, but it was a little slow and a little unstable computer. Then it got better. I preferred to be in the library. In the available areas in the library, there were five computers, all Macs. I adored using one of them at the end. I changed the settings so that it would show seconds, use 24-hour time and announce the time in the 15 minutes.

Fact-finding in factual textx

In the second article I chose, I found it really hard to do the Who and When. I found the last one much easier because it was more interesting.

Holiday Report-type Recount

Reflection
I themed this recount a simple report when I was creating it. I thought it was good, but I replaced the Lorem ipsum text with the text I added in my draft writing book.

Alphabet Whale

Reflection

I did not find this post very hard because of the alphabet. All of these words in the document  describe the blue whale.

ANZAC Day Challenge

My Reflection

I found this subject interesting because I had to make this presentation.
I proved the facts and typed them in the presentation.

Extending Knowledge Kensuke's Kingdom (opinion)

Reflection:
I was learning to think what hard words meant, but in the dictionary, it was a matter of fact.
Nobody is right. Nobody is wrong. My closest opinions were from gibbered and revelled. I found it somewhat hard. It was a good challenge to do.

Japanese  visitors

Last Thursday, the Japanese visitors came and sang the Japanese national anthem. It took time before they even wrote my name in Japanese!
I ordered them to, so I chose the Star symbol and there were 4 syllables in my name in Japanese:
ma - i - ku - ra.
If I was from Japan, that would be my name.
So then the Japanese students did a challenge, and some of them succeeded, but others failed. 0_o All Japanese students returned to the seats. The buddies stayed in the auditorium. There were three songs in the formal proceedings.
First, Matua Faenza spoke. Then Caleb spoke. After that the Hoshino students spoke. Finally, Mrs. Graham spoke. The formal proceedings ended.

Haiku poems

These are my Haiku poems I created and I came up with a Haiku poem about PCs and another about Spring and Winter. It wasn't hard at all. I remembered there were 5 syllables each on all lines except the 2nd which has 7.

The Biggest Telescope

I was reading the book about the largest ever telescope on Earth. I found some information about teh facts. I was a heap interested in astronomy because I am so brave of the universe. The SKA could also see exoplanets. Examples: 55 Cancri E,
Kepler-22b, HAT-P-4b, TRES-4b, WASP-78b, Kepler-4b, TRES-2b,
HAT-P-3b, Kepler-37b, Kepler-14b, Kepler-31b

The Levels (recount)

Kensuke's Kingdom Chapter 1: Pegggy Sue

My Reflection

I was learning how to identify different points of view in a story.  First I had to read and record ideas from the story into a pros and cons table.  I thought it was a little bit hard to find ideas from the book.   I chose to share my learning by writing a balanced argument.    My next step is to think about whose point of view is closest to Min in the stories I read.

Equivalent Fractions

This video is 55 or 56 seconds long. That is almost a minute. Equivalent fractions are fractions that equal the same value, but neither the numerator or denominator. Example: 1/3 is equal to 2/6, 3/9, 4/12, 5/15 etc. I worked out the equivalent fractions. It is easy to work out.

Tuesday 28 July 2015

PlAnTiNg ReCoUnT

First: Only R29 went behind the field.
Second: We met Anna, Carl and Paul who were from the Department of Conservation.
Third: Carl talked about planting trees that prevent the erosion. There was some flax and other native trees.
Fourth: We got one single shovel each only to work with a buddy..
Fifth: We planted the plants dug in a square hole each. A fertilizer white tablet was put in before the plant. There were about 26 planted. Some plants were diffficult to plant because the ground felt different.
It Was muddy there. I didn’t like to go there because it was too dirty. I watched the other children.

Sixth, we went back to school, and some of us had to remove our dirty shoes.

My Reflection:

I got this award for being amazing in reading.
I am proud of myself!
I felt really happy when I got this certificate.

Balanced argument Living on Mars

I am learning to write a balanced argument.

Living on Mars is/is not a good idea.
It would be exciting because on Mars, in the daytime it’s good to live because of the warmth and in the warm places it would be comfy. It might be equally likely to live there.
But on the other hand it could be too difficult because there isn’t so much life in the frozen cold places in Mars. Possible but not certain times of life; It is likely that Earth is the only planet to have life unlike Mars maybe.
It would be a good idea but not certain because the yes or no life question on Mars has not been answered. If people live in Mars, they have to find out if there’s life or not. If there’s life, I can go live there. If not, I would have to stay on Earth.
However it might not be successful because Mars might not have rare life. There may not be enough water. If there’s not enough water in Mars, we would less often live… Maybe we might not be able to live. I think I have to find out if there’s life or not on Mars because I would not be able to know until the answer is known.

Reflection
I am learning to write a balanced argument: For and Against. I had to write things for and against living on Mars. The hardest thing I had to do is think of things for living on Mars. What I think is I also found the yes or no question very hard because I don't know if there is life on Mars or not.

The Periodic Table: Summarising Edition

I am learning to read, locate and summarise information.
I found out the atomic mass of each element from Wikipedia.
I found out most facts from the website Chem4Kids.
It teaches you about everything you must know about the periodic table of elements.
I learned to put only one single fact in each fact box of the element from the periodic table, but it wasn't quite tricky. It was trickier when I started and had to because I know that only one fact must be put in each box.
I used my own words for the bit I was doing the slides of "What I know."
That was easy for me to do it, because the periodic table is not very hard for me to do. It was interesting for me to do it.

One day, one of the houses had 6 people in total.
That house was marked #9194 in May 28, 1789.
So two kids, the male named Kallos, the female named Ferella, two parents, the mother named Lissia, the father named Brelkin, and two grandparents, one named Mark, one named Loma. Short Division

I learned how to do short division. It was somewhat tricky which decimals were recurring which meant going infinitely.

Learning to multiply plural numbers

Mrs. Graham asked me to solve plural digital multiplication problems. I had to show every step I did. The 2x2 digit multiplication problems are easier than the 2x3 and 3x3. When doing the 3x3 digit problem I forgot a couple of steps.

Then Mrs. Graham showed me the 2 steps I forgot. I was shown how to do the grid method. I liked to do it with no grid. Look how I solved the problems down below. My final step of the three problems means add all three answers and the answer was 933061.

Week 8 Term 1

Ön Monday I was sick.
Ön Tuesday I did Mathletics. I saw the games by myself:

Ghost House
Granny Crunch
Ice Cream
Pattern Magic
Venn's Diagram
and more

I liked Venn's Diagram and Ghost House and Pattern Magic best.
They were easy for some people and difficult for other people. They were easy for me. Next time I would try something harder like I-Scream Lady and Mind Twister and more games.

T1 W6

Last Week
Last week I played Mathletics: Ghost House Minigame.
I played by myself and it used addition, subtraction, times tables and division.
It was easy. The green ghosts add points to your score. The red ones subtract points from your score. The blue ones multiply points to your score. The violet ones divide points from your score. Get the required number of points to get a key! Get three keys and escape. if there is a remainder you either lose a key or type the remainder.
I need to try harder games because I need more challenges.

Term 1 Week 4

Last week,  I enjoyed reading Charlotte's Web, the funny moments were:
"Wilbur, Pennsylvania?"
Fern thought that. The children laughed so the answer was Harrisburg and not Wilbur.
6am-4pm is Wilbur's schedule.
The most important thing I noticed was Wilbur was sold and Fern sobbed sadly.
I find the story tricky to understand because of the long descriptions.
I think I could learn more descriptions by reading more.

My Bio-poem

This is my bio-poem that I wrote to tell people about myself.
It was simple because I copied it in the book.
